THE VIRTUAL SNAP FAIRYTALE & FOLKLORE FESTIVAL VIRTUAL AUTHOR EVENTS We're celebrating readers, writers, and great fairytale and folklore books this summer. Wehave live virtual events where you can ask the authors about their work, engage in interesting conversátions, and participate in draw-offs with illustrators! WASECA-LE SUEUR RE IONAL LIBRARY SYSTEM WASECA- LE SUEUR JULY 2020 SHANNON HALE Registration required for all events. Sign up at: Princess Author of The Princess in Black series BLACK wasecalesueurlibraries.com/summer and The Goose Girl will speak about why fairytales matter and why she wanted to write them. RIBBON DANCE WORKSHOP 7 pm on Tuesday, July 7th via Zoom Ribbon dancing is a traditional Chinese art form where ribbons and AUTHOR PANEL Authors Donna Jo Napoli, Adam Gidwitz, and Brandon Mull will discuss their books choreography are synchronized to form captivating patterns and designs in the air. In this workshop, kids will make their own ribbon wand and learn the basic moves of the beautiful dance. Supplies available at your local library via curbside delivery. Register by July 6th. and their favorite fairytales. And if Adam has anything to say about it, the discussion will veer towards the ****** and gruesome side of fairytales, so be warned. FABLEHAVEN 10 am on Saturday, July 11th via Zoom 10 am and 5 pm on Tuesday, July 14th via Zoom BRANDON MULL NORTHWOODS ANIMAL TALES JESSICA DAY GEORGE Tucsdays Author of the Tuesdays at the Castle series and Princesses of Westfalin trilogy will talk about how her stories vary from other fairytales and why she wanted to write about princesses. at the Castle Discover how Bear lost his tail and why Rabbits have long ears. Storyteller Kevin Strauss intersperses the stories with biology and ecology information 7 pm on Tuesday, July 14th via Zoom about the animals in the stories. Register by July 20th. The Festival is made possible in part by funding from the Minnesota Department of Education through a Library Services and Technology Act [LS-00-19-0024-19] grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. 10 am and 6 pm on Tuesday, July 21st via Zoom The Ribbon Dance Workshop and Northwoods Animals Tales are made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through a grant provided by the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. JACQUELINE WEST IACOLELINE West Join the author of The Books of Elsewhere and The Collector series for DRAGONS: RETURN OF THE ICE SORCERESS an afternoon talking about wishes, spells, thrills, and powerful magic. 10 am on Thursday, July 16th via Zoom Sponsored by the Friends of the Le Sueur Public Library. A long time ago in a faraway world, two brave villagers set out to set free some SKETCHBOOK SERIES dragons and save the kingdom from the Evil Ice Sorceress. On this daring journey they might need to look to SCIENCE for the answer. Learn sketchbook techniques from Creativebug artists. Supplies available at your local library via curbside delivery. Geared for teens and adults. Register by July 1st. Don't miss this fun ScienceTellers fantasy adventure featuring awesome dry ice effects!
