#2 KWS BRE RENOVATION RELOCATION INFORMATION FOR LAKESHORE ROAD FAMILIES REQUENTLY As the North Syracuse Central School District progresses with the voter-approved renovations to KWS Bear Road Elementary School, we will update community members with a website (, letters to families and periodic Frequently Asked Questions sheets. SKED UESTIONS Week of February 3, 2020 Updated 3/10/20 PROJECT TIME-LINE Q. WHEN WILL CONSTRUCTION BEGIN? A. The project has been submitted to the New York State Education Department for approval. Once the project is approved, the District will seek bids and a construction time-line will be communicated as plans develop. LAKESHORE ROAD ELEMENIARY Q. WHAT IS THE ANTICIPATED DATE FOR THE RENOVATION TO BE COMPLETE? A. The anticipated date for students returning to KWS BRE is September 2022. Although not expected to change, this date may be adjusted given the scarcity of commercial RELOCATION (Continued) labor and other market forces. Q. WILL KWS BRE AND LRE STUDENTS BE RELOCATION INTEGRATED INTO THE SAME CLASSES OR Q. HOW WILL THIS RENOVATION IMPACT MY CHILD? WILL THEY BE KEPT SEPARATE? A. KWS BRE students in grades 3-4 will be relocated to A. KWS BRE students will be fully integrated into classes Lakeshore Road Elementary (LRE) for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years. Additional staff will be added to LRE to support students. with LRE students throughout the renovation project. This decision is consistent with our District's mission to create a welcoming, fully-inclusive school community. The District administration, building principals, teachers, and support staff will continue to work to provide a welcoming environment and support our student's social emotional needs throughout the transition process. Q. WILL KWS BRE YOUNGER SIBLINGS HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND LRE SO ALL SIBLINGS IN A FAMILY WILL NOT BE SENT TO A DIFFERENT SCHOOL? SNANE A. Yes, K-2 students who attend KWS BRE and have an older sibling in grades 3-4 relocating to LRE will be allowed to attend LRE if requested by parents/guardians. www.NSCSD.ORG

Instruction in all core classes will be in traditional classrooms. 461 Q. WILL KWS BRE YOUNGER SIBLINGS WHO ARE IN GRADES K-2 AND ATTEND LRE DURING THE RENOVATION WITH THEIR OLDER SIBLINGS BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE ATTENDING LRE AFTER THE RENOVATION PROJECT IS COMPLETE? A. Yes, those KWS BRE younger siblings who attend LRE will be allowed to continue to attend LRE after the project is completed. The District will provide transportation. TRANSPORTATION Q. WILL KWS BRE STUDENTS AND LRE STUDENTS SHARE THE SAME BUS RUNS? Q. HOW WILL THE DISTRICT SUPPORT THE INTEGRATION OF KWS BRE STUDENTS INTO LRE? A. No, KWS BRE students will be picked up in their neighborhoods and transported directly to LRE. A. KWS BRE students will have an opportunity to visit LRE in the spring of 2020. This will provide students with the opportunity to meet their peers, build relationships and explore the school.
