NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK SADIE ROLAND Without the hard-working teachers at HHS, our school wouldn't be as successful as it is; Harrisburg High School welcomed 17 new teachers who hope to make our school an even better place for all. The new teachers are listed as follows: Katie Nelson, Amos Ferguson, Barry Longden, Tyler Maxwell, Jason Michel, Katrina Kruze, Tiffany Benham, Kendra Steinberg, Mikell Hebig, Ali Hefner, Andrew Koch, Adam Pohlmann, Josh Christiansen, Terry Konechne, Rayna Summers, Breanne Lynch, and Shane Wuebben. When the teachers were asked what they enjoy most about HHS, most of the new teachers, like Mrs. Lynch and Mr. Koch, agreed that the kind students and welcoming teachers and staff continue to create an unmatched, hospitable environment. Harrisburg High School stands out from other schools in the state; it offers more learning pathways for our students. New teachers have learned to embrace the ever-changing and growing district. Mikell Hebig, a 9th and 10th grade counselor, shared, "I think HHS is unique in that it is a large school, but it has that 'small town' feel." Kendra Steinberg agreed with the statement by adding, "HHS is innovative and ever-evolving with student needs and its growing student population." Caitlin Stratton, a new English teacher at HHS, believes, "The customized and traditional learning pathways make HHS unique." Other new teachers shared similar points, like Jason Michael, a math teacher at HHS. He explained, "I think Harrisburg is set apart by being innovative and having people around the school who care so much about how successful the school and its students are." New teachers all bring something special to our school. Barry Longden, a new math teacher, hopes to bring "enthusiasm for learning, willingness to try new and interesting ideas, and show students that they are important." The new teachers want to make a mark in their students' lives for a variety of reasons: Adam Pohlman, a science teacher, and Rayna Summers, a social science teacher, hope to bring new ideas and make class engaging and fun for students. The staff at HHS, whether new or veteran, continue to set Harrisburg at the forefront of education.
