Click on the Registration quick link in the upper righthand corner of the home page and select New Student Registration 2024-25 beginning 3/11/24. Current Galvez Primary Pre-K students need only bring in current proof of residence and updated shot record. Please bring your documents to the library via the back entrance. To complete Kindergarten registration, you MUST BRING the following to school. You will NOT be allowed to register your child without BRINGING the following to Galvez Primary School: ● Child's original birth certificate Child's social security card (optional) Child's up-to-date immunization/shot record with signature or office stamp. Proof of residence: O CURRENT Electric or Gas bill - full page. Past Due and Disconnect notices not accepted. O Rental lease with rent receipt if utilities are included. O Completed Residency Affidavit if you live with someone. Available in the office. Parent's driver's license or state identification card with current address Custody documents (if applicable) MANDATORY KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT Act 386 requires that prior to a child entering first grade in a Louisiana public school, they have attended a full day kindergarten program (or passed an academic readiness screening) must be a full day program • must attend for a full school year • can be public or non-public kindergarten • must have passed readiness screening administered by public school This means that five-year olds are mandated to attend kindergarten. A parent can defer kindergarten for one year if one of the following is true: the child has not had their fifth birthday prior to the first day of school the child is enrolled in a pre-k program O The pre-k program can be public or private, but not home-school or home-study. O Ascension Parish Schools do not provide public pre-k to 5-year-olds enrolling in preschool for the first time. O The kindergarten program is not prohibited from being a home-school program, however the provider must be registered as a home-school provider with the state department. ŠIÃMIII
