Parents, We are so excited to share with you our plan to promote a love for reading this school year! It is very important that students are reading on level and enjoy reading. It is also important that our students are reading at home as well as at school. Reading helps in language development and strengthens family relationships. So... parents we will need your help in making sure your child and you participate in the many activities we will be doing this school year. Our goal is to promote the love for reading, have children engage in reading and see our reading levels rise due to our effort. I can't wait to see the growth in our student reading scores! Our monthly reading activities will be the following and are subject to change. MONTH INITIATIVE NOVEMBER D.EAR. TIME CDrop Everything And Read) -The school will have a time for the whole month of November for everyone to stop and read. The teachers will Implement reading logs that will be calculated each month. STORIES FROM AROUND THE COMMUNITY-Community Guest speakers reading aloud their favorite storybook virtual Book Fair paired with Literacy Night - Dec. 6 - 18. DECEMBER JANUARY LOOK WHO GOT CAUGHT READING - Administrators will pop in to catch students reading. They will take pictures to share on facebook Students bring their favorite book to P.E. FEBRUARY FOR THE LOYE OF READING -READ-A -THON - The students will raise money to try to promote reading. MARCH HARCH MADNESS - The school will have a book competition to find the best book winner per grade level. Spring Book Fair APRIL TEAM MRS. AMY CHAMPAGNE VS. TEAM MRS. ALI BROWN COMPETITION- The school will have a competition of reading minutes. The winner will get to silly string the other team captain, We will be communicating each activity by sending home letters or sending school messenger messages. Teaches will be promoting these activities with all students and working hard to get everyone to participate. We will be giving prizes to students for participating in many of the activities and we will have homeroom class competitions.
